Derwent Academy Oil Colours offer artists a versatile range of richly pigmented paints formulated to retain vibrancy when used alone or mixed with other mediums. These oil colours can be applied directly from the tube or diluted with a painting medium for lighter wash effects. With a set of 12ml tubes, including Zinc Titanium White, Lemon Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, and more, you have a wide spectrum of colors to choose from. The long drying time of these oil paints allows for gradual blending and experimentation. Remember to clean your equipment before the paint dries and always cap the tubes when not in use to preserve their quality.

Tips for your oil brushes:
Clean Immediately: Clean your oil brushes promptly after each painting session to prevent the paint from drying on the bristles.
Use Solvents: Use a suitable solvent like mineral spirits or turpentine to remove oil paint from brushes. Pour a small amount into a container and gently swish the brush in it.
Wipe Excess Paint: Before cleaning with a solvent, wipe off excess paint from the brush using a paper towel or rag.
Repeat Cleaning: If the brush is heavily loaded with paint, you may need to repeat the cleaning process with fresh solvent until the brush is clean.
Rinse with Soap: After solvent cleaning, rinse the brush with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining paint and solvent residue. Use a mild soap.
Shape the Bristles: After rinsing, gently reshape the bristles with your fingers to restore their original form.
Dry Horizontally: Allow the brushes to dry horizontally on a flat surface to prevent water or solvent from dripping into the ferrule, which can damage the brush over time.
Avoid Soaking: Avoid soaking brushes for extended periods as it can weaken the bristles and damage the handle.
Clean Ferrule: Occasionally, use a brush comb or your fingers to clean paint buildup from the base (ferrule) of the brush to maintain its shape.
Store Properly: Store clean, dry brushes in an upright position or in a holder to protect the bristles and prevent bending or damage.
